Will it fit?

Our bathrooms are no longer just a place for us to get in and out of as quickly as possible in the morning; it's now quite normal for a bathroom to be a place of relaxing luxury.

Not only will such luxury make your daily ablutions more pleasurable, but updating and upgrading your bathroom can also add 3-5% to the value of your home. When designing your new bathroom, take the opportunity to consider whether you need both a bath and a shower and if so whether the room can accommodate them as separate units. It's also a great chance to reappraise the layout of your bathroom (notwithstanding that toilets must usually stay in approximately the same position as they must connect to the soil pipe unless you're happy to use a macerator).

British bathrooms rarely have lots of space to spare so a key question to ask is, "Will it fit?" We've found this great, free, online tool to be very helpful in answering that question.

Once you know what you can fit in your bathroom and where, you can get on with the more interesting job of designing your colour scheme and choosing tiles, taps and fittings.
