Directory

Use the orange 'directory' tab, found on the left of every page, to find information, or a tradesman/supplier local to you, for the particular home improvement project you have in mind.

• First select the particular area of the home you wish to improve.
• Next select the specific task you are looking for within the drop down menu.

The search will return two distinct boxes of information;

• In the first box you will see the top 3 information articles which most closely match your home improvement project. At the bottom of this box is a link to all information relevant to this search.
• The lower box contains listings of tradesmen and/or suppliers which provide a service relevant to your home improvement project.

Manual Search

Use the green 'search' tab, found on the left of every page, to search for a particular information article, or a tradesman/supplier, or both.

• To change the outcome of the search, use the tick boxes below the keyword entry box.
• To search for both information and tradesmen & suppliers, simply tick both boxes.

If you have ticked the box requesting tradesmen & suppliers to be included in your search, you will notive that you now have the option to search by either Activity, Store Name or Postcode.

• Activity - Type here a particular project or area of the house you are wish to search under; ie Kitchen or Plumber.
• Store Name - If you have a particular company in mind, enter their name here. Leave blank if not.
• Postcode - Enter your postcode to give results nearest to where you live.

• If you have registered with simplifydiy.com the postcode box automatically contains the postcode you registered with.

To commence the search, click the search button at the base of the green box.

Depending on the level of detail you have requested, the search will return at least one of two distinct boxes of information;

• The 'simplifyDIY info' box will return the top 3 information articles which most closely match your chosen keywords. At the bottom of this box is a link to all information relevant to this search.
• The 'listings' box will return all activity matches which closely resemble the keywords you have searched with. To view the tradesmen/suppliers simply tick the activities which match the project you have in mind.

Points common to both 'directory' and 'search'

All listings given in your search results will contain the relevant address and contact details for each listing. To view more details, including a map of the location of the partiular service you have chosen, simply click on the listing name.

If you have registered with simplifydiy.com, all listings will be shown ranked by a combination of your postcode and the average customer feedback rating given for each listing - the aim being to provide you with the best service for your desired project.

If you are not registered with simplifydiy.com then all results are listed purely by their average customer feedback rating. To search by a postcode aswell, simply click the 'postcode' box under 'sort by', enter your postcode, then cick 'sort' to update your search results.

If you wish to personalise your search results, you can change the order in which the listings are ranked by a combination of Store Name, Rating and Postcode simply by checking or un-checking the relevant box under 'sort by'.

If your search results cover more than one page, you can view the other pages by either clicking 'next' for the next page or a specific page number to view that particular page.

By default all results are listed 10 to a page. If you wish to view more results per page this can be increased to either 50 or 100 by clicking the appropriate box under 'No. results'.
