Flooring

Tiles

Ceramic tiles are available in a wide range of colours, shapes, sizes and finishes and can be used to create both eye-catching detail or a clean and cool ambience. Choose non-slip tiles for bathrooms.

Carpet

  • Adds warmth and insulation
  • Adds soundproofing
  • Hides undulations in sub-floor surface

  • Not easy to install
  • Available in limited widths, making economical coverage difficult
  • Harder to clean spills and marks
  • Not recommended in bathrooms and kitchens

Wood Flooring

  • Warm, natural look
  • Hygienic, Easy to clean
  • Suitable for under-floor heating
  • Relatively easy to install

  • Solid wood is expensive
  • Noisy
  • Cannot expose to standing water
  • Requires flat sub-floor

Wood is increasingly popular or floor-coverings these days as the variety of colours and manufacturing methods widens. Wood flooring can be used to create both contemporary and traditional schemes, that will always add warmth, character and class to a room.

Vinyl Flooring

  • Highly durable and water resistant
  • Relatively inexpensive
  • Easy to install and keep clean
  • Suitable for underfloor heating

  • Will show undulations in sub-floor layer

The mention of vinyl can conjure recollections of some pretty disastrous linoleum flooring from the 1960s. However, vinyl is in fact is a completely distinct and improved type of floor-covering.
