If you think of your radiators as unsightly white chunks of metal then fear not, with a tailor made radiator cover, or simply a clever use of paint, they can be turned into a feature within your room, or even made to disappear all together!
If your radiators do not complement your interior design scheme, you may choose to hide your radiators behind radiator covers, which can provide a focal point for a room and can protect children from the hot surfaces. Radiator covers do not significantly reduce the efficiency of your heating system, since they should encourage better distribution of heat by convection through the top vents.
Radiator covers are available in a wide range of colours, designs and themes, in both standard sizes and made to measure.
Consider making a feature of a good traditional cast iron radiator by painting it to contrast with the colour of the walls. Modern radiators are often available in a range of colours these days, so consider ordering one in a more unusual colour, or consider having your existing radiators powder coated for a really professional finish.
If you want to ‘hide’ your radiators without going to the expense of radiator covers, try painting them in a colour that is similar in shade to that of your walls. Don’t forget to use a paint specifically designed for radiators, to withstand the heat.
